Distribuidora de Gas de Occidente is a small operation that distributes Natural Gas to the city of Cananea, in the north-western state Sonora. Natural Gas is the most important energy source for the Mining sector that operates in Cananea since the 19th century, producing important quantities of Cooper.
DGO started operations in 1999 with a 30 year exclusive authorization from the sector regulator, primarily to supply Natural Gas to the Mining industry and has seen the number of residential coverage to nearly 80% with about 6,000+ customers. DGO plans to expand operations include the cities of Naco, Hermosillo, Nogales and Imuris in Sonora state.
